The Gaziantep University Turkish Music State Conservatory is Turkey's third Turkish Music Conservatory, established in 1987 after Istanbul Technical University and Ege University. It was established by Law No. 19500 dated June 27, 1987, with the fundamental goal of ensuring Turkish music's place in universal music and its continued presence within socio-cultural life.
Opening its doors in 1988 with 15 students in the Basic Sciences, Voice Training, and Turkish Folk Dance departments, the conservatory now has a total of 400 students in the Turkish Music, Voice Training, and Turkish Folk Dance departments, making it one of the most important conservatories in the region and one of the most prestigious in Turkey. In addition to undergraduate programs focused on Turkish music and Turkish folk dances, our conservatory has offered thesis-based master's programs through the "Interdisciplinary Musicology" program affiliated with the Institute of Social Sciences since 2019.
In addition to training qualified artists, our institution is capable of conducting high-level scientific research, has a national and international reputation for its work in Turkish music and Turkish folk dances, and provides high-quality education in this field. Our institution cultivates artists, researchers, and educators with the goal of researching, examining, and perpetuating the presence of our music and dance culture in contemporary life. We continuously update our resources and improve ourselves.
